What do our trainees say?

Recent graduate Robert completed the course in 2025. Speaking of his experience he said:
As a mature student coming from self-employment, I knew I wanted a change in career and had spent time attending teacher training fairs and speaking with a number of course providers. However, as soon as I spoke with Kate (SCITT Business Manager) her passion, enthusiasm, and depth of knowledge immediately stood out and I knew that the NT SCITT was the right route for me.
The whole process was clear and well organised from the start. The interview was a really positive experience, and meeting Mhairi (SCITT Programme Director), who was so welcoming, helped to ease any nerves I had. Once I started the course, I was impressed by how well structured it was.
We were given all the information we needed at the right times, without feeling overwhelmed. The lectures were paced perfectly, the tutors were knowledgeable and approachable, and I always felt comfortable asking questions and confident that I was being well prepared for both placements and assignments.
One of the highlights of the course was the opportunity to visit a wide range of schools, whether through placements or experience days which allowed me to meet many inspiring headteachers and staff.
The NT SCITT has genuinely changed my life; I am now working at a school I first visited during my training. I am so grateful to the whole team for their hard work, support, and encouragement, and I’m so happy that I chose the NT SCITT to start my teaching journey.
