Emotionally based school non-attendance (EBSNA) is a growing need both nationally and within North Tyneside.  The North Tyneside EPS guidance documents are intended for schools and other professionals within North Tyneside and aim to take an approach informed by psychological theory which is accessible to all professionals.

The advice in the guidance documents is drawn from evidence-based practice; academic and doctoral research; policy and practice-based evidence, informed by our experiences as educational psychologists.  ‘Supporting pupils at risk of Emotionally Based School Non-Attendance’ was created by the Educational Psychology Service through their work with the Connect Mental Health Support Team and focuses on the prevention of emotionally based school non-attendance.  ‘The Early Intervention and Targeted Support Guidance and Toolkit’, document focuses on approaches needed once non attendance begins to occur.
