Developing a whole school approach to improving attendance

This course helps school leaders and staff build a clear plan to improve attendance across the whole school.
It shows how leadership and culture shape the way people think about attendance, and how every adult can take part in the effort. You will learn to set fair policies, use data to spot early warning signs, and give the right support to the right students.
The course also introduces the EBSNA (Emotionally Based School Non-Attendance) approach, showing how to work with pupils, parents, and carers to bring students back into learning. Pupil voice is central, and you will explore how to listen well and act on what you hear.
The training highlights teamwork across agencies, ways to celebrate success, and steps to create lasting change. With practical tools and proven strategies, this course helps schools build a positive, consistent culture where attendance is valued and supported by all.
