Michelle is a qualified teacher with experience in the whole Primary school age range, but has a specialism in Early Years.

She completed the NPQSL while in post as an assistant headteacher in a large, socially deprived primary school with an above average degree of Pupil Premium and SEND within it. She was Early Years lead and SENDCo within her role, before leaving the classroom to work with our youngest of children within their homes as part of the North Tyneside Portage and Pre-School Home Teaching Service.

She has a passion for supporting children who have SEND reach their full potential, along with ensuring parents and carers feel valued and remain the expert at the heart of the support provided for their child.

As a Portage Accredited Trainer, she ensures that the children in North Tyneside can access key workers who can use the Portage Principles in their practice to positively impact the progress made with the children in their setting. She also supports schools and settings who aim to become an accredited setting / school with the National Portage Association.

Michelle has continued to ensure that North Tyneside retain their 5* National Portage Association accredited status, which we are extremely proud of.
