Getting in the Groove with Governance

This four-hour programme develops governing bodies in their twin tasks of challenge and support. Chairs and headteachers can decide whether this is best delivered over 4 x 1 hour sessions or 2 x 2 hour sessions.  

Participating governor bodies will explore: 

  • what governors can learn from key documents including the headteacher’s report to the governing body, the self-evaluation form, the school development plan, pupil premium plans and financial information 
  • what governors can learn from link visits and what constitutes an effective link governor report 
  • what governors can learn from data, including attendance data, attainment data and progress data 
  • how governors can strengthen the links between the school and the community it serves
