Designed to run alongside the traditional school curriculum North Tyneside Council’s Work Based Learning Programme specifically targets young people aged 14 – 16 who have challenges in attending formal education and are in danger of becoming NEET.

Support will be given to help build self-esteem and confidence.

This is based on small groups of up to six over an agreed period of time.

Funding

Students can attend a provider for one full day per week which will be funded by the alternative education programme.  Additional days can be requested where the cost would be covered by the school.

Accreditation

Training could lead to an accreditation qualification if negotiated with the provider, and if a student meets the minimum attendances and Guided Learning Hour requirements.
