We are excited to announce a partnership with Still Human, backed by funding from the North East Combined Authority (NECA), to launch a fully funded staff wellbeing programme for schools across North Tyneside. This initiative comes at a critical moment for the education sector, where staff burnout, recruitment challenges, and retention issues are at an all-time high.

This new partnership recognises a simple but powerful truth: staff are the beating heart of every school. When educators feel supported, valued, and mentally well, the ripple effects are profound—impacting everything from pupil outcomes to school culture and community engagement.

What the Programme Offers

The programme is designed to be both practical and transformative, offering a suite of resources and training opportunities that schools can immediately put into action:

  • Leading Staff Wellbeing Training: A two-day, fully resourced course for senior leaders, equipping them with the tools, strategies, and confidence to lead a culture of wellbeing in their schools. This training is grounded in psychological research and delivered by experienced facilitators who understand the realities of school life.
  • Staff Wellbeing Workshops: Schools can select from a menu of engaging, evidence-informed workshops tailored to help staff reflect on and prioritise their own wellbeing. These sessions are designed to be uplifting, empowering, and immediately useful.
  • Still Human Wellbeing App: All participating schools will gain access to the Still Human app—a digital wellbeing companion offering daily inspiration, practical tools, and ongoing support. The app helps embed wellbeing into the everyday rhythm of school life, making it more than just a one-off initiative.

Why This Matters

The programme is not just about reducing stress—it's about creating thriving school environments where staff feel energised, connected, and empowered to do their best work. Research consistently shows that when staff wellbeing is prioritised, schools see improvements in:

  • Staff retention and morale
  • Pupil engagement and achievement
  • Leadership effectiveness
  • Overall school performance

Still Human’s approach is refreshingly human-centred. Their team includes former educators and mental health professionals who bring both empathy and expertise to their work. Their mission is clear: to help schools move from surviving to thriving.
