A Summer of Sound: Celebrating North Tyneside’s Young Musicians

Join North Tyneside Music this June and July for an exciting programme of live events showcasing the very best of local talent.

This summer, young musicians from across North Tyneside will take to stages across the borough in a vibrant series of performances, celebrating creativity, collaboration and musical achievement. From large-scale concerts to intimate live gigs, there’s something for everyone!

 

Summer Sings at Whitley Bay Playhouse

Kicking things off, our much-loved Summer Sings events return to Whitley Bay Playhouse on 16th and 17th June. These special concerts will bring together pupils from 13 North Tyneside primary schools, alongside the North Tyneside Steel Band, Jazz Ensemble and Children’s Choir. Audiences can expect uplifting performances and a joyful celebration of singing and ensemble music-making.

Traxx Rock School Live at Exchange 1856

Rock fans won’t want to miss two evenings of live music at Exchange 1856 on 24th and 25th June, where 12 Traxx Rock School bands will perform. Featuring standout local acts including Helldawg and Belladonna, these gigs promise high energy, original music and the unmistakable buzz of emerging talent.

 

A Busy Day of Celebration – Saturday 27th June

On Saturday 27th June, our Saturday Music Centre will host its annual summer celebration at John Spence Community High School. Bringing together young people aged 5–18, the event will feature over 200 musicians performing across nine groups, ranging from our Beginner Band through to our senior groups.

This year’s celebration will be particularly special as we recognise five young people who are leaving after ten years at the centre, marking a decade of commitment, progress and musical achievement. Families and friends will be invited to join us for this memorable occasion.

Later that same day, our Brass Group will also perform at the North Tyneside Together Festival, a free community celebration featuring live music and activities for all ages across North Shields.

 

Emerging Artists Showcase

Our Emerging Artists, Becoming the Artist and Sounding Out! groups take to the stage at Crew Gal Academy, North Shields on Wednesday 1st July20 young singers and performers will take part in this exciting showcase, highlighting creativity, individuality and the next generation of musical talent in North Tyneside.

Wallsend Festival

On Saturday 4th July, young musicians will once again be part of North Tyneside Council’s Wallsend Festival, performing alongside a range of local acts in a lively day of music and community celebration.

 

Mouth of the Tyne Festival Highlights

North Tyneside Music is proud to be part of the Mouth of the Tyne Festival celebrations in Tynemouth:

  • Saturday 11th July, 11am – Eight local primary schools will bring colour and rhythm to the streets in the vibrant Samba Parade.
  • Sunday 12th July – as part of the Sunday for Sammy live daytime stage, three of our talented young artists will perform: Sam Idurobu, Archie Worrall and Billie.

From choirs and steel band to rock bands and samba rhythms, this summer programme highlights the incredible breadth of musical talent across North Tyneside. We look forward to seeing you at one (or more!) of these fantastic events as we celebrate our young musicians and their achievements.
